Here at Welford we use the TEACH Computer Curriculum.

We believe that the core values: include critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, problem-solving, responsibility, collaboration, and adaptability; essentially aim to equip our students with the skills to not only use technology proficiently but also to navigate the digital world ethically and effectively, applying computational thinking to real-world problems. This provides them with a breadth of knowledge and skills to help them progress on to their secondary school and the world beyond that.

 These concepts are broken down as follows:

• Critical thinking:

  Analyzing information, evaluating its accuracy, and making informed decisions when using technology. 
• Creativity:

  Using technology to design, develop, and express ideas in innovative ways. 
• Digital literacy:

  Understanding how to access, evaluate, and use information online safely and responsibly. 
• Problem-solving:

  Breaking down complex problems into smaller, manageable steps and applying computational thinking to find solutions. 
• Responsibility:

  Understanding the ethical implications of technology use and acting with integrity online. 
• Collaboration:

  Working effectively with others in a digital environment to achieve shared goals. 
• Adaptability:

  Being able to learn new technologies and adapt to changing digital landscapes

This scheme is kept current and up to date, with a continual revisiting and building upon existing skills year on year. This begins in KS1 and flows all the way beyond primary (KS1 and KS2) and includes KS3 and KS4.

Each year group has 7 units of work per year.

2 units based upon coding,

2 units based upon creating media,

1 unit based upon data information,

1 unit based upon computer systems and networks,

1 unit based on online safety.

We have a variety of technology that can be used in the classroom or our ICT suite- including laptops, iPad and Chromebooks.
