Social emotional and mental health
Within this area of need, children may:
- Find relationships difficult
- Appear withdrawn or isolated
- Behave in ways that affect their learning, e.g. disruption, refusal etc.
- Do things that impact on their health and well-being
Welford Primary closely monitor and analyses both classroom and playground behaviours to ensure that the necessary support is provided where required by specific classes / individuals. Specific interventions are in place to support children when required to develop their behaviour, social interactions and ensure children develop an understanding of behaviour expectations linked to our behaviour blueprint, and if relevant reduce interruptions to learning.
We use My Happy Minds across all year groups to ensure that we support children’s understanding of how we develop and look after our social, emotional and mental health needs.
Should school or parent have concerns in relation to social, emotional and mental health needs the SENCo liaises carefully to discuss measures in place to support specific children to ensure a positive impact. Where appropriate multi agencies are utilised to further support an individuals need.
